A New Model …. The Eagle’s Talon

The Eagle’s Talon is my latest design for Bill Luckett Custom Knives. It is replacing the King Cobra. I wanted to come up with something new but about the same price range.
The blade, guard and handle are all new for this model. First, the blade has a single cutting edge with the top clip being a false edge. This blade design turned out to be a little more difficult than I first thought. I always make a full scale drawing of the knife. Then I used clear Plexiglas to make a template of the blade. Doing a “full scale drawing” is often easier than grinding the blade. That was definitely the case this time.

As you can see in the photos the point has three facets on top. The hollow ground clip is tapered but not sharpened. The cutting edge has the full curve and a deep hollow grind that I always try to do.

The guard, handle and pommel are all multi-faceted. Take a close look at the guard. There are 5 different surfaces giving it a very distinct look. The handle was designed with two finger grooves with the second groove blending into the pommel. The handle material is off set with black, brass and stainless steel spacers

The overall length of this model is approximately 14 inches with an eight inch blade. The blade is ground from ¼ inch stock and is 2 inches wide. The guard is about 4 ¾ inches from tip to tip. Remember, I do all the grinding and shaping free hand so no two knives will be exactly the same.

The Eagle’s Talon Prototype as shown in these photos has a blade of CPM154 stainless steel with the guard and pommel made of 304 stainless steel. The handle material is polymer stabilized buckeye burl with some very unusual colors, the usual black and grays with some cream and browns. All in all a very nice combination.
If you wish to place an order for this new model please check the price and options listed elsewhere on this web site. Hopefully you will enjoy this new model.
